Device Processing Engineer

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

The successful candidate will work primarily in EPIR’s cleanroom to develop and implement infrared semiconductor device processing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will specifically:

  • Develop and implement photolithography, wet and dry etching, material deposition
  • Develop processing procedures for semiconductor devices
  • Manage device processing including dicing, packaging, shipping, and tracking
  • Material supplies and maintain liaisons with EPIR’s purchasing department
  • Monitor cleanroom supplies, vendors, and purchase orders
  • Assist in writing R&D-level proposals for semiconductor materials and device technology advancements

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of semiconductor device fabrication processes including lithography, etching and deposition methods
  • Working knowledge of mask aligner, vacuum deposition chamber, and dicing saw tools including safe use
  • General laboratory and cleanroom practices
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, strong organization skills with an attention to detail, and excellent documentation capability
  • Candidate should be enthusiastic and highly self-motivated
  • Computer skills including MS Office, LabView, and AutoCAD a plus

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant science or engineering discipline
  • Experience in developing and fabricating semiconductor devices
  • At least 1 year of cleanroom experience
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States

Molecular Beam Epitaxy Systems Manager

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

The successful candidate will work primarily in EPIR’s epitaxial growth and characterization facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will specifically

  • Troubleshoot, repair, improve, and modify MBE and ultra-high vacuum (UHV) equipment.
  • Develop processing procedures for ultra-high vacuum system maintenance alongside cryopump refurbishing and repairing
  • Manage in-situ growth monitoring and diagnostic techniques.
  • Work closely with theoretical physicists and engineers and provide materials growth support.
  • Write R&D-level proposals for semiconductor materials and device technology advancements.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Hand-on experience with ultra-high vacuum systems preferred.
  • Experience in ultra-high vacuum system maintenance, cryopump refurbishing and repairing
  • Experience with troubleshooting, repairing, improving, and modifying MBE and ultra-high vacuum (UHV) equipment.
  • Experience with in-situ growth monitoring and diagnostic techniques.

Semiconductor Post-Doctoral Device Characterization Engineer/Physicist

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

The successful candidate will work primarily on implementing semiconductor characterization tools and characterizing materials and devices for advanced semiconductor infrared sensors and detectors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will specifically:

  • Implement optical and electronic testing procedures for semiconductor materials and devices
  • Characterize semiconductor and infrared detecting materials and devices including heterostructures, superlattices and focal plane arrays
  • Use standard/specialized semiconductor testing tools and collect and analyze electrical/optical infrared device data
  • Write R&D-level proposals and grant applications for semiconductor materials and device technology advancements
  • Write technical reports to funding agencies and customers
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair test equipment

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of semiconductor material and device characterization using electrical and optical tools
  • General laboratory and cleanroom practices
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, strong organization skills with an attention to detail, and excellent documentation capability
  • Computer skills including MS Office, Python, LabView, SQL AutoCAD and multiphysics software a plus

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline (Physics, Materials Science or Engineering)
  • At least three years of experience in testing and characterizing semiconductor materials and devices
  • Semiconductor test equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience
  • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States preferred; eligibility required
